Abstract:
This research study aimed to develop health-related Buddhist Missionaries for
promoting health and well-being under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with
bedridden. Subjects were 61 monks living in Lamphun province. Data collection used mixed
method with self-administered questionnaire and structured interview. Descriptive statistics
were used to present knowledge, attitude, and practice towards promoting health and well-
being under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with bedridden. Narrative method was
used to describe training strategies and development of health-related Buddhist Missionaries
for promoting health and well-being under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with
bedridden in Lamphun province.
The finding of this research were
1. For knowledge, attitude, and practice towards promoting health and well-being
under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with bedridden, on average monks had good
level of knowledge and attitude towards promoting health and well-being under the concept
of Bhavana 4 among person with bedridden. However, their practice towards promoting health
and well-being was at moderate level.
2. According to the training strategies for health-related Buddhist Missionaries for
promoting health and well-being under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with
bedridden, the training strategies should be consisted of 3 major components, including 1) the
importance of health-related Buddhist Missionaries for promoting health and well-being under
the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with bedridden, 2) knowledge, attitude, and practice
towards promoting health and well-being under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with
bedridden, 3) knowledge related to preventable complications from bedridden status and
management of preventable complications
3. According to the development of health-related Buddhist Missionaries for
promoting health and well-being under the concept of Bhavana 4 among person with
bedridden in Lamphun province, this training was successfully developed with partnerships.
Sixty-one monks were participated in the 3-day training. After a training, health-related
Buddhist Missionaries are working collaboratively with local health care personels to promote
health and well-being under the concept of Bhavana 4 for person with bedridden in Lamphun
province.
