Abstract:
This research aimed to: 1) examine current and desirable conditions of teachers' digital literacy under secondary educational service area office 7, 2) investigate the needs of digital literacy development for teachers under secondary educational service area office 7 and 3) present the guidelines to develop digital literacy for teachers under secondary educational service area office 7.
The samples of this research, selected using stratified random sampling, consisted of 345 teachers in schools under secondary educational service area office 7. The research instrument used for collecting data was a dual-response format questionnaire (r = 0.93). The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and priority needs index (PNIModified).
The research result revealed that: 1) the current state of digital literacy of teachers, as a whole, was at a high level (X̅ = 4.13, S.D. = 0.79) and their desired state was at the highest level (X̅ = 4.55, S.D. = 0.74), 2) the needs of the digital literacy development for teachers were respectively sorted descending order of the needs as follows: (1) use, (2) creativity, (3) ethics, (4) understanding, (5) accessibility and (6) communication; and 3) the proposed guidelines to develop digital literacy for teachers were categorized according to the needs in descending order as: (1) use to train a workshop on effective use of tools; (2) creativity to stimulate the attitude of teaching materials development on various platforms; (3) ethics to educate computer law and the use of digital for security; (4) understanding to promote appropriate understanding of learners with critiques; (5) accessibility to always support technological equipment; (6) communication to promote teamwork through the use of digital.
