The entrepreneurship knowledge management model for spa in upper northern Thailand

Abstract: This research was to research and develop a knowledge management model of spa entrepreneurs in Upper–Northern Thailand with the following objectives: 1) To study the existing knowledge of the spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand. 2) To examine customer expectations towards spa businesses in Upper-Northern Thailand based on knowledge management of spa 3) To develop a knowledge management model for spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand. 4) To test the appropriateness of the developed knowledge management model of the spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand. There were a series of 4 sequential steps of conducting this research as follows: 1) Studied the existing knowledge of the spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand by conducting in-depth interviews with 10 spa entrepreneurs and collecting data using questionnaires from 373 spa entrepreneurs and customers. 2) Studied customer expectations with a questionnaire from 400 spa customers in Upper-Northern Thailand. 3) Developed a knowledge management model for spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand and 4) tested the appropriateness of the developed knowledge management model of the spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand from 6 experts in the spa business. The results showed that the spa business in Upper -Northern Thailand was very outstanding in identity, culture, and Lanna's way of life in terms of sense of sight, sense of taste, sense of smell, sense of sound, and sense of touch that lead to customer impressions and satisfaction. Spa entrepreneurs had possessed knowledge of spa business h management in 6 areas: 1) human resources, 2) management, 3) products and services, 4) physical environments, 5) service standards, 6) foreign language skills in couple with customer's expectations from spa service providers with high-quality service. Therefore, the obtained information was suitable for developing a knowledge management model of spa entrepreneurs in Upper-Northern Thailand, following the concept of the project evaluation (CIPP Model) by examining and assessing the appropriateness of the scheme from experts. According to the experts' suggestions, spa entrepreneurs should develop the six areas of knowledge and skills, as previously mentioned. They could manage the body of knowledge through adult learning, based on the readiness of spa entrepreneurs to learn appropriately in each area and using training methods such as seminars and workshops as knowledge management tools. In addition, there were additional knowledge and skill suggestions for spa entrepreneurs in bringing the culture and identity of Lanna into the spa business. Knowledge management models could enhance the efficiency of spa business services and compete in the spa business market to a greater extent.

Abstract: งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยและพัฒนาแบบแผนการจัดการความรู้ของผู้ประกอบการสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ ดังนี้ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความรู้ที่มีอยู่ของผู้ประกอบการธุรกิจสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบนของประเทศไทย 2) เพื่อสำรวจความคาดหวังของลูกค้าที่มีต่อธุรกิจสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบนของประเทศไทยด้านการจัดการความรู้สถานประกอบการสปา 3) เพื่อพัฒนาแบบแผนการจัดการความรู้สำหรับผู้ประกอบการสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบนของประเทศไทย 4) เพื่อทดสอบความถูกต้องเหมาะสมของการพัฒนาแบบแผนการจัดการความรู้ของผู้ประกอบการสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบนของประเทศไทย การดำเนินการวิจัยมี 4 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) การศึกษาความรู้ในปัจจุบันของผู้ประกอบการธุรกิจสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบน ด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผู้ประกอบการสปา จำนวน 10 คน และเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลด้วยแบบสอบถามจากผู้ประกอบการ และผู้ใช้บริการจำนวน 373 คน 2) การศึกษาความคาดหวังของลูกค้า ด้วยแบบสอบถามจากผู้ใช้บริการสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบน จำนวน 400 คน 3) การพัฒนาแบบแผนการจัดการความรู้ของผู้ประกอบการสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบน และ 4) การตรวจสอบและประเมินความเหมาะสมของโมเดลการจัดการความรู้โดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านธุรกิจสปา จำนวน 6 คน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ธุรกิจสปาในพื้นที่ภาคเหนือตอนบน เป็นสปาที่มีความโดดเด่นในบริบทความเป็นอัตลักษณ์ วัฒนธรรม วิถีความเป็นล้านนา ทั้งด้านรูป รส กลิ่น เสียง และสัมผัส ที่ส่งทอดความรู้สึกประทับใจ พึงพอใจให้แก่ลูกค้าผู้มารับบริการสปา ผู้ประกอบการก็มีองค์ความรู้ในการบริหารจัดการธุรกิจสปาทั้ง 6 ด้าน คือ 1 ทรัพยากรบุคคล 2) การจัดการ 3) สินค้าและบริการ 4) สภาพแวดล้อมทางกายภาพ 4) มาตรฐานการบริการ 5) ทักษะด้านภาษาต่างประเทศ เมื่อนำมาผนวกกับความคาดหวังของลูกค้าที่คาดหวังด้านบุคลากรมากที่สุดในการให้บริการที่มีคุณภาพ จึงได้นำข้อมูลที่ได้มาพัฒนาแบบแผนการจัดการความรู้ของผู้ประกอบการสปาในภาคเหนือตอนบนภายใต้กรอบแนวคิดการประเมิน โครงการ (ซิปป์โมเดล) ผ่านการตรวจสอบและประเมินความหมาะสมของแบบแผนจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ซึ่งผู้เชี่ยวชาญมีข้อเสนอแนะให้ผู้ประกอบการควรได้รับการพัฒนาทักษะ องค์ความรู้ทั้ง 6 ด้านดังกล่าว ด้วยการจัดการองค์ความรู้ผ่านการเรียนรู้แบบผู้ใหญ่และบนพื้นฐานความพร้อมในการเรียนรู้ของผู้ประกอบการอย่างเหมาะสมในบริบทของแต่ละพื้นที่ โดยใช้วิธีการฝึกอบรม การสัมมนาและการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการเป็นเครื่องมือในการจัดการองค์ความรู้ นอกจากนี้มีข้อเสนอแนะเพิ่มเติมให้แก่ผู้ประกอบการ คือ องค์ความรู้และทักษะในการนำวัฒนธรรม เอกลักษณ์ของความเป็นล้านนาไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการดำเนินธุรกิจสปา แบบแผนการจัดการความรู้สามารถยกระดับการบริการของธุรกิจสปาให้มีประสิทธิภาพ และสามารถแข่งขันในตลาดธุรกิจสปามากยิ่งขึ้นต่อไป
