Abstract: This paper presents a syntactic description and a comparative analysis of the syntactic and semantic aspects of the Chinese-Thai’s "you+NP" structure, using the traditional structural grammar description and the concept of animate/non-animate cognition. The syntactic symmetry, container metaphor, and other related theories are used to demonstrate that Chinese-Thai’s "you+NP" structure both have meanings of large quantity, and can explain a series of related grammatical phenomena.
