Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to study working morale of Village headmen in Nong Hong District, Buriram Province, 2) to compare the Village headmens towards working morale of Village headmen in Nong Hong District, Buriram Province, classified by sex and age; and 3) to study of opinions and suggestions of the Village headmen in building up working morale. The subject included 100 sub-district headmen and Village headmen, and the other 14 subjects which were staff from administrative organization, staff from local government organization, and experts who were the former Village headmen in Nong Hong District, Buriram Province, chosen by purposive sampling. Questionnaires and interview were used for data collection. The statistics employed for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and One-way ANOVA. When the differences of each aspect were found, pair difference test by Scheffs method were used. The results revealed that:
1. Headmens opinionstowardsworkingmorale of headmen in Nong Hong District, Buriram Province, as a whole was a high level. When considering in each aspect, the highest was operation satisfaction, followed by the fairness of the organization; While the sufficiency of compensation was at the lowest level.
2. Comparison of the opinions of the headmen in NongHong District, Buriram Province towardsworking morale, classified by sex and age, as a whole and each aspect was not significantly different which was inconsistent with the set hypothesis. The cause might be that although the headmen are both male and female who are at different age, all of them intend to do their duty for assisting and developing the community, and they are also eager to commit to the goals set both of their own and the organizations.
3. IN terms of the headmens opinions and suggestions towards the building up of working morale of the headmen in Nong Hong District, Buriram Province, the benefits and compensation should be increased, especially the compensation in case of death. In addition, the criteria and the selection process of the best practice headmen of the year must be fair and equitable.
