Abstract:
This quasi-experimental study was using two groups: pretest and posttest design. The objective was to study the effect of dental health program to dental caries prevention behavior among sixth grade at pua district, nan province. The study group comprised 74 students. The sample size were selected by sample random sampling into 2 groups. The 37 students were assigned into the experimental group and 37 students were comparison group. The experimental group received both self-eficacy application in order to develop the dental caries preventive behavior. The total duration of program was 12 weeks. Data were collected two times, it is to say before and after the intervention, using questionnaire and plaque index records. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test, and independent t-test. Significantly level at 0.05 Results showed that, the experimental group had significantly better perceived self-eficacy, outcome expectation, preventive practice than before and that of the comparison group (p < 0.05). Their average plaque index was also significantly decreased (p < 0.05) after participated in the dental health promotion program.
