Abstract:
The research aimed at analyzing the applications of activity-based costing system in product cost calculation, analyzing the application of the activity-based costing system with economic value added calculation in evaluating the performance result, as well as analyzingsale pricing based on the data from the use of activity-based costing system in conjunction with the economic value added system by using a case study of a company in Rayong province The specific samples were selected from the eight products with significantly reduced sales. Both primary and secondary data were collected from the interview from the heads of eight departments and from financial statements and production reports of the companies for the past four years since B.E. 2558 till B.E. 2561. The obtained data was, then, analyzed to determine the cost drivers and allocate operating costs and expenses into the products by using the activity-based costing method (ABC) together with the calculation of the funding costs from the economic value added concept (EVA).and then used the mentioned cost data to analyze sales prices The findings revealed that the production costs calculated by the activity-based costing system of the four products were higher than the traditional costs but the other four products had a lower cost than the traditional cost. When using the activity-based costing system together with the economic value added system, it was found that the profit per unit of the product for the seven products decreased or increased negatively. There was only one product that had a higher unit profit compared to the conventional profit calculation method The results of using production costs from the activity-based costing method together with the economic value added calculations to analyze the sales price determination by using 10% Cost-Based Pricing Method showed that the use of the traditional cost to determine the selling price will result in its being low for the six products, but too high for the two products. This would result in the setting of the selling price not to achieve the profit as set, and may be unable to compete in the market.
