Abstract:
This study was aimed at investigating the development in English writing competence and learning behaviors of students learning English writing through the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition strategy (CIRC Program). The sample group consisted of 20 Mattayomsuksa 3 students selected through the purposive sampling method. The instruments used in this research comprised six units of lesson plans including individual English writing tests, a learning-behavior questionnaire, and n learning-behavior observation form. The obtained data were analyzed with the use of mean, standard deviation, and t-test (Dependent Samples).The findings revealed that the use of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition program contributed to the improvement of the students' English writing competence. The students' achievement improved in the aspects of content, organization, and vocabulary. In using CIRC program, moreover, the students participated in all activities through the process of writing. The students worked independently with partner, intcracted in class, used English for discussion, and assisted each other in writing. The students werc also enthusiastic, showing interest in English writing at a high level.
