Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine work motivation among members of
Pathum Thani Provincial Volunteer Defense Corps and to compare their level of work motivation
as classified by personal information, including gender, age, educational level, work position,
career path and amount of income and study guidelines for improving work motivation.The
instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire with a level of reliability of 0.887 The data
were collected from 117 members of Pathum Thani Provincial Volunteer Defense Corps. The
descriptive statistics used to collect the data included frequency, means, standard deviation.
The results revealed that
1. Most respondents were male, between 26 -35 years old, single status, Education
level Secondary 6/ Vocational certificate , position of major member Volunteer Defense Corps
Lance Corporal - Volunteer Defense Corps Sergeant, having working period 5 10 years and
having salary lower than 15,000 Baht
2. Overall , members of Pathum Thani Provincial Volunteer Defense Corps have
opinion about working motivation in the high level. The most motivation dimension level was
personal work success and the lowest mean score was salary
3. Based on the results from the comparisons, it was shown that male members had a
higher level of work motivation (μ = 3.94) than their female counterparts (μ = 3.92). Members
over the age of 56 had more motivation than other ranks (μ = 4.23). Members who has completed
secondary school / vocational certificate or equivalent had more motivation than other ranks (μ =
4.02). Members with ranks volunteer defense corps sergeant major had more motivation than
other ranks (μ = 4.04). Members with ranks 16 - 20 years experience had more motivation than
other ranks (μ = 4.37). Members with incomes below 15,000 baht had more motivation than
other ranges. (μ = 3.95)
