Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to analyze TCAS applicants information applying for a Bachelor degree of Burapha University. The applicants information in the academic year between 2018 and 2019 is used for analysis which are a total 153,409 items, and is stored in the data warehouse. The information was selected to analyze application information and general information of applicants by using Microsoft Power BI tool. A descriptive statistics is used to describe the data characteristics including the frequency distribution and percentage.
The results of the research are as follows:
1. The overall competition rate of Burapha University is equal to 1:4.39. The application round with the highest competition rate is the 3rd round (a direct admission or Admission 1) which gives the ratio to 1:12.04. The 2nd round called the quota acceptance (Quota) gives the ratio to 1:8.57, and the 4th round (Admission 2) gives the ratio to 1:6.26. Finally, the 5th round called the independent direct admission (Direct Admission) gives the ratio to 1:0.98, and the 1st accepted with Portfolio gives the ratio to 1 : 0.92 respectively.
2. The top 5 most popular programs of all applications are 1) Bachelor of Arts Program in English 2) Bachelor of Business Administration Program 3) Bachelor of Nursing Program 4) Bachelor of Science Program In Logistics Management, and 5) Bachelor of Law Program.
3. When comparing the percentage of recruitment success by considering the interviewees, the right confirmers (Clearing House), and the new students with the number of people who passed the selection in each step, it was found that there is the number of the candidates pass interview about 57.94% in the interviewing process.
The number of the confirmed new students is 49.33% in the confirmation process, and in the reporting process there is the number of reporters about 47.01% of the total number of candidates.
4. Considering the percentage of successful recruitment by comparing the number of new students to the admission plans, it was found that the percentage of all reporters are equal to 36.04 of the total number of receivers. The 4th round recruitment gives the highest percentage which is 106.47 percent. The 3rd round recruitment gives 58.99%. The 2nd round recruitment gives 37.11%. The 1st and 5th rounds recruitment gives 30.23% and 12.69%, respectively.
5. Most applicants have a cumulative grade average in the range of 3.00 - 3.49 which is 37.85%. The cumulative grade average in the range 2.50 - 2.99 is 29.61% and in the range 3.50 - 4.00 is about 20.74%. The cumulative grade average in the range 2.00 - 2.49 is 10.74%, and in the range below 2.00 is about 1.06%.
6. Most applicants who live and study in the East are approximate 64.83%. The other applications who live in the Central, Northeast, Northern, Southern, and West regions are approximate 26.12%, 4.99%, 1.66%, 1.53%, and 0.88%, respectively.
7. Most applicants studied in schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The other applicants studied in schools under the Office of the Private Education Commission, the Department of Local Administration, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation respectively.
8. The top 5 schools which have the most applicants, are from the school including 1) Chonradsadornumrung School, Chon Buri province 2) Chonkanyanukoon School, Chon Buri province 3) Phanatpittayakarn School, Chon Buri province 4) Si Racha School, Chon Buri province, and 5) Siyanusorn School, Chanthaburi province, in descending order.
