The sample consisted of 40 students attending Udonpittayanukool School in the first semester of 2001 academic year. The experiment took 17 periods of teaching, each of 50 minutes. The instruments used in the research were the multimedia CAI program in health education entitled contraception, the learning achievement test, the questionnaires, and the expert's CAI program assessment device. The collected data were subsequently analyzed by the uses of E-CAI, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings indicated that the constructed multimedia CAI program had an effectiveness of 91 % ( Good level ), the effectiveness index of 0.6875. After 21 days and 4 months, the students could retain their knowledge at 87.50 % and 82.25 % respectively. The students showed their opinions about the use of the computer-assisted instruction program at highly satisfactory level. Therefore, the CAI can used effectively for teaching the contraception.
