Abstract:
This descriptive study aimed to factors associated with self-care behaviors of acute
coronary syndrome patients, Chularat 3 international hospital, Samutprakan province. The sample
of 200 persons was derived from systematic sampling. Data collection included a questionnaire
was between april and june 2018. Analysis was done in terms ofPercentage, Average, Standard
deviation, Pearsons product-moment correlation coefficient and Point-biserial correlation
coefficient.
Research results showed that acute coronary syndrome patients expressed a high level
of self-care with the average of 60.74 (SD = 5.14). In addition, the analysis revealed following
factors related to self-care behaviors of acute coronary syndrome patients:gender (rpb= 0.247,
p< 0.01), Health belief (r= 0.185, p< 0.01), duration of illness (r = 0.151, p< 0.05) and social
support (r= 0.145, p< 0.05).
Suggestions from this research could be used for developing guideline in order to
promote positive self-care behaviors among acute coronary syndrome patients.
