Abstract: This study applied a qualitative research aiming at exploring how farmer born Chinese accomplished career development to become country hotel owners and managing their own business. The research objectives were to study the career development of Chinese farmer born hotel business owners and to study their perspective towards career development on hotel business. This study was designed and conducted to response in three research question about 1) what career development has been implemented in managing the hotel business? 2) Why are the Chinese farmer born willing to become hotel business owners? 3) How have the Chinese farmer born developed themselves to become hotel business owners? Social constructivism was employed as the research paradigm and multiple case study as research strategy. The data were collected in multiple country hotels. The participants were selected by three criteria. First, participants of this study were farmer born in Yangshuo County, Guangxi Province, China. Second, they ran their own country hotel in Yangshuo County, Guangxi Province, China. Third, they were experience in managing their own hotel for at least 5 years. The researcher selected two country hotel owners for multiple cases study. Data was collected from in-depth interview, internet observation, local document and audio visual such as photographs, video clips. Based on the manual coding, data analysis findings presented in 5 main categories, including 1) Career process, 2) Culture selling points, 3) Family Background, 4) Competencies and abilities, 5) Influential environment. Cross-case study findings were explained into 2 themes of 1) Ways for career development and 2) Reasons of career development. Finally, this study presented that knowledge and skill were significant in preparing running own business because these were not only building human capital for advancing career development, but also for understanding the basic concept of hotel industry. Although the result came the same as becoming country hotel owners, the ways heading was diverse. The influential factors related to the specific environment in which these farmer born country hotel owners were located, which concerned about the benefit of compulsory education and Yangshuo rural tourism development. According to UNWTO Annual Report 2017, the trend of Asian tourism lied in the advancing technology, which combining this research was utilizing Internet for conducting country hotel business. Inclusion, the research report this dissertation made a significant contribution to the knowledge of the career development for Chinese farmer born business person in country hotel industry
