Abstract:
This research is to study the influence of hardness, which related to die failure made of H13 steel
grade in the warm form forging process. The objective of this study is to increase warn forge tool
life by to find the suitable hardness of warm form forge tool heat treatment. which the specimens
consists of 3 groups as of 40, 45 and 50 HRC without any additional process to increase more
surface hardening. Each group is consists of 2 pieces and test the target same as normal warm form
forge production process condition as percentage of lubrication, temperature of billet, speed of
machine, lubrication spray system and timing oflubrication spray system.
The result has come out with the tool life of 45 HRC hardness of die is longest tool life than other.
its tool life is show 11,000 pieces on average when compared with the rest of 40 and 50 HRC as
7,000 pieces and 2,200 pieces. Absolutely, because the toughness of 45 HRC is suited to the cyclic
of fatigue load of warm forge with got the force through the upper die.
