Abstract:
Evaluation is a primal part of teaching and learning. It reflection the instructors results of
teaching and learning development. This participatory action research on the development of criteria
assessment for the Thai dancing art gesture language focused on the Standard Thai Dance for lower
level secondary school students. The purpose of this study was to develop assessment criteria for the
Thai dancing art gesture language on the standard Thai dance for schools under the Secondary
Educational Service Area 22 in Nakhon Phanom. This research used multiple methodologies both
qualitative and quantitative. The sample selected by simple random sampling consisted of 364 lower
level secondary school students and 8 teacher teaching Thai dances in the Department of Art and
Dance in academic year 2018. The instruments used to collect the data were questionnaires and indepth
interviews. Every item showed an index of congruence of 1.00. The information obtained was
analyzed using mean, standard deviation, median and The quartile range.
This research showed that 1) the study assessment on the teacher performance in the Thai
dancing art gesture language of the Standard Thai Dance was found to be at a moderate level, and
the result from the interviews with the teacher revealed that the assessment criteria of the gesture
language used in the standard dance were unclear and inconsistent; 2) the assessment criteria for the
Thai dancing art gesture language of the Standard Thai Dance for the lower level secondary school
students consisted of five qualitative indicators, and ten criteria. The assessment result of the
effectiveness of the indicators and assessment criteria for the Thai dancing art gesture language of
the Standard Thai Dance was found to be at the highest level for all the items.
