Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to develop the Honesty Scale for Prathom Suksa Six students. The scale consisted of situation-type and picture-type, with 20 items each. Time to complete the scale was 50 minutes. Nine hundred ninety one Prathom Suksa Six students in the academic year 1989 in Lopburi Province were randomly sampled from the population of 46,939. The results were as follows: 1. The Cronbachs Alpha internal consistency was reported to be .7072. 2. The construct validity which was found by factor analysis method extracted by the Principal Component Analysis and rotated by the Varimax Method showed 8 factors, namely; 1) Confession of Ones Guilt and Complying with Commands, 2) Punctuality of Appointed times, 3) Punctuality of work Times, 4) Honouring Promises, 5) Honouring Agreements, 6) Not Stealing Money or Valuables, 7) Not Stealing Properties, and 8) Telling the Truth. 3. The criterion related validity computed by the Point Biserial indicated the correlation between the scores obtained from the scale and the scores from teachers observation to be .49 and statistically significant at the level of .01. 4. The discriminant validity was obtained by t-test. On the basis of their teachers opinion, the students were grouped into the high honesty and the low honesty groups.
