Abstract:
Because of competition selection of the appropriate machine tools is very important for modern manufacturing companies. Improperly selected machines can negatively affect the companys overall performance in terms of maintenance cost, productivity and the quality of products. Because the number of alternatives available and similarities, it has become surely confusing and difficult for decision maker. MCDM has been broadly used in dealing with selection problems. The main objective of this study is to select the most appropriate machine by using an integrated method of AHP and PROMETHEE. In this study, AHP is used to determine the weights of criteria while PROMETHEE method is employed to determine the rankings of alternatives. Finally, the proposed approach is an efficient tool in machine selection
