Abstract:
This study was an Experimental Development Research (EDR) that aimed to develop new model of admitting patients using available resources. The study was conducted at the Out Patient Department, Priest Hospital from 2nd February 2015 30th June 2015 using patients from the National Cancer Institute as the control group. The sample group was 120 cases of Admitted patients at the OPD of Priest Hospital. There were 143 respondents who answered the questionnaire, from a total of 166 hospital employees. The questionnaire was used to evaluate operational results in terms of quantity of workload, quality of work, operational time and workforce, economics and satisfaction of the involved persons and economics. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, paired-t test, Wilcoxon, Mann Whitney U at the alpha level of 0.05 and content analysis. The results showed that the model that has been developed by applying relevant theories to the experimental area using available resources with appropriate, accurate, and complete characteristics and main compositions were easy to be complied by the operational officers with a clear written flow chart of admitting patients. The experimental results revealed that the average workload per workforce increased (p<0.001), accuracy of work increased (p<0.001), average service time decreased (p<0.001), satisfaction level of service providers increased (p<0.001), and the cost per service providing unit decreased (p<0.001). The developed model was composed of 14 principles and 2 related laws with clear human, financial, material structure, and working system. The model could be implemented for its sustainability. The simple implementation of the model would be in the Priest Hospital. The focused to provide a continual care of the patients. It is suggested that a further study be conducted to cover other areas that were not addressed by this present research.
