Abstract:
The exoskeletal system is a human-made structure that has been developed
to work with the human body. There is a variety of ways to utilize the exoskeletons,
mostly in rehabilitation and human motion applications. This research aims to design
and build an external skeleton for measuring human movements for open-field
applications, based upon human-centered design approach for product design and
development. This research project begins with collecting data from the needs of users
to create the conceptual design. The results show the prototype of the exoskeletal
system that has been developed based on the needs of the stakeholders and
anthropometric data and range of motion. The exoskeleton has been developed used
to gait measurement and able to measure 6 DOF at the sagittal plane (2 hip joints,
2 knee joints, 2 ankle joints).
