Abstract:
Every year, the demand for services supported by mobile broadband communications increases dramatically as more and more users subscribe to mobile communication services. In addition, smartphones and tablets with powerful multimedia capabilities have become increasingly popular. All this factors are creating an increasing amount of data traffic. With higher demand for data traffic, the users could experience increasing interference to their desired data transmission. This Thesis focuses on the time-domain techniques for enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (eICIC) in Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) such as 4G-5G mobile systems. The aim of eICIC is to optimize interference among the transmission devices served by different tiers in the mobile system and improve transmission performance especially for the cell edge users. The Cell Range Extension (CRE) and Almost Blank Subframe (ABS), which are the core techniques under eICIC will be focused in this work. Study will be done to verify the system performance under the implementation of CRE and ABS mechanisms as well as the outcome of varying major parameters such as the bias parameters and ABS ratio for improving the performances of system.
