Assessment of marketing strategy of tourism development in Taoyuan City, Taiwan
Abstract:
The aims of this dissertation are mainly focused on finding out the key variables for Taoyuan City to attract foreign tourists to visit Taiwan. There are two statistic techniques, i.e., in-depth interview and expert questionnaire survey, are employed to acquire the solutions to attract the tourists to visit Taiwan. There are developments of marketing strategy and the construction of infrastructure for Taoyuan City included in the desired solutions. First of all, a systematic approach, in which there are nine steps included and theory-based on complete strategic operation and management procedure, was employed to help decide the organizational development and develop strategic plans to accomplish the goals. Furthermore, AHP statistic technique is applied to decision making in several uncertain evaluation criteria. In the process, the complicated problems are based on pair comparison to lower the evaluators' thinking burden for the subjects. Assessment scale of AHP is basically divided into nine levels (i.e., from equally important to absolutely important (1~9) in the study. Development of a Distinct Tourism Brand and an Image of Tourist Destination for Taoyuan City is indeed very rich in nature. Nature is probably the most abundant natural resource in the country, which makes Taoyuan City a major attraction or tourist destination in the region. Also, most of Taoyuan City's attractions are very rich in history. All of them constitute to the country's heritage and promote its culture, and culture embodies many different factors including local food. It is recommended to add a survey regarding the opinions of the residents of Taoyuan as well as the motivation or degree of satisfaction of international tourists in subsequent research, for the dissertation of better objectivity through the purpose of effectiveness and efficiency.
