Abstract:
The objectives of this research are to study problems and their causes of prefabrication construction system, and to propose the guidelines for prefabrication construction process improvement. The scopes of this research are focused in housing construction projects using bearing wall system and production unit and installation unit are operated in the same organization. The research methodologies consist of: 1) reviewing literatures and interviewing the engineers in production unit and installation unit in order to collect data of problems and their causes of prefabrication construction process and guidelines for construction process improvement: 2) surveying the opinion of production engineers and installation engineers by using questionnaires in an effort to study priorities of problems and their causes as well as priorities of guidelines for construction process improvement. The questionnaires were distributed to 26 persons in production unit and 28 persons in installation unit of 4 companies: and 3) analyzing priorities of problems and their causes of prefabrication construction process and priorities of guidelines of construction process improvement by applying principle of risk analysis. The results of this research present 1) the important cause of problem of production process is deflection of formwork, and, the guideline for its process improvement is to set the working standard of formwork: 2) the important cause of problem of transportation process is unclean space as wastes in production area, and, the guideline for its process improvement is to daily eliminate wastes: and 3) the important cause of problem of installation process is bad weather condition, and, the guideline for its process improvement is to use flexible construction planning.
