Abstract:
This research deals with study of vehicle turning paths. The objective of the study is to be able to understand turning behavior and to formulate geometric design standard for facilities at intersection or mid-block, such as median opening, left turn lane and end of median. Three types of vehicle were considered: Truck, Passenger car, and Bus. From the study, it is found that size of vehicle is an important factor for designing of vehicle turning path, for instant, the turning paths of the heavy vehicle such as the 12.0 meter-bus is 23.8 meter compared with the 4.50 metre-passenger car is 5.6 meter.
