Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis was to study the contemporary youth khon performed by Khon Jew Baan Yim Troup during 1992 - 2010 in three areas: history, composition and performance management including methods of performance focused on a set of performance entitled Sitting Watching Khon, Lying Watching Grand Shadow Playing, Relaxing Watching Puppet. Data were collected from document, surveying, interviewing and observing. The reason of the study were as follow: Khon Jew Baan Yim Troup founded in 1992 by Mr.Prasert Suwanwat. He was the controller and supervisor. Mrs.Aeumporn Suwanwat was in charge of general details. Mr.Prasert Suwanwats art experience in artistic craft and performance was brought into use especially his experience in the troup of Suwanwat Thai Musical Puppet owned by his father, Mr.Yui Suwanwat. Mr.Prasert Suwanwats skills in puppet performance of Ramayana were applied with traditional khon adjusting to natural characters of performer which were student aged 3 - 5 years from Baan Yim Nursery School. Later the performer were outside youth aged 3 - 12 years. The performance in the early period was only khon performance. In 2001 Baan Yim Nursery School closed. Mr.Prasert Suwanwat spent his time creating puppets and grand shadow playing. Puppets and grand shadow playing were inserted in the performance of khon entitled Hnuman and Nang Supanmajcha this was the presentation of three performances which had been the ancient cultural bases in one set entitled Sitting Watching Khon, Lying Watching Grand Shadow Playing, Relaxing Watching Puppet. The new arrangement had been newly created but still reflected the natural culture. The performance was a contemporary dance called Contemporary Youth Khon Performance. This thesis was the presentation of dancing creativity by present day artists based on Thai art and culture as main factor using art as device in teaching youth in the community to know morality in self development, community development and nation development. This thesis was expected to be the guide line for later artists to applied in their future work.
