Abstract:
Bang Pakong Community in Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao Province; a traditional fishery village along the river settled from the central Ayutthaya Period (1448-1688) as evidenced by the templeKhong Kharam constructed in that period. This is a small community that has been changed resulted from national development plan and the government plans aimed to increase its roles in manufacturing. They are the Eastern Seaboard Development Plan, industrial estates such as Amata Nakorn (1989), Wellgrow (1989). Consequently, the road networks accommodate the industrial development. They are the improvement of the Bang Pakong - Chachoengsao (1993), the highway Min Buri - Chachoengsao (1994). These projects influenced the urban transformation of the study area. The research aims to study the change of the Bang Pakong community in terms of space, land use, building use and transportation, the causes and problems affected the community in terms of land use, socio-economic aspects, population and environment. The result of the study shows that at present Bang Pakong community has become a residential area who works in the nearby factories. The road networks developed in the community and in the vicinity influence the community structure, form and size of the community, the building use and land use. As a result, the fisherman area located along the seashore become degraded and resulted in the decreasing of its economic importance. The study reveals the main factors and trend of the community transformation in the future. The study recommend to solve problems occurred from the transformation of Tambon Bang Pakong Municipality by controlling land use, building use influenced by the limitation of topography and space.
