Abstract:
The purposes of this research aimed to study the moral teaching problems and the
teaching training needs at primary school level of monks in Moral Teaching Project of Ministry of
Education, and develop training curriculum for moral teaching at primary school level by monks in
Moral Teaching Project of Ministry of Education. The sample used for interview on the moral
teaching problems included 20 monks in moral teaching project at primary school level were selected
by purposive selection. The sample group used for questionnaire in accordance with the teaching
training needs comprised of 226 monks in moral teaching project at primary school level from the
region 13 were selected by stratified random sampling method. The training curriculum development
was implemented covering four processes as follows: 1) curriculum plan, 2) curriculum design,
3) curriculum implementation, and 4) curriculum evaluation & revision. The experimental group
consisted of 30 monks were selected by purposive selection. The research revealed that:
1. The moral teaching problems at primary school level of monks were found that
conveyed the lack of knowledge and skill for the teaching as follows: the subject content and
curriculum, the lesson plan, the teaching method, the instructional media, and the evaluation.
2. The training needs for moral teaching at primary school level of monks as overall and
each element were high level. While the training needs were ranked in descending order, it could be
arranged as the lesson plan, the subject content and curriculum, the teaching method, the evaluation,
and the last one was the instructional media.
3. The training curriculum development was found that the relative growth score of the
experimental group was above average at .20, the evaluation for lesson plan skill and the opinion for
training curriculum of the experimental group as overall were high level.
