Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the degree of cancer patients perception of Breathing Technique for Pain Relief (BTPR) via cartoon animation and to evaluate the relationship between demographic, health status and communication factors were effected BTPR in terms of usefulness, comprehensibility, credibility and appropriateness.
The study involved 36 cancer patients who were admitted to Fort Suranari hospital for their chemotherapy treatment. The data were collected through questionnaires and the summarized scores of perception was high in terms of usefulness (3.87/5), credibility (4.37/5) appropriateness (4.49/5), and total perception (4.36/5). Moreover, very high in terms of comprehensibility (4.60/5). The results of study indicated that education attachment, income level, pain level, length of depend on pain medicine, media availability and Internet exposure were positive relationship. Interestingly, the communication of patients with the doctors and travel to hospital have low positive relationship with perception of BTPR via cartoon animation. This means that the BTPR via cartoon animation could be used as a primary tool to help patient practice to reduce their pain.
