Oxidation of Aniline by Fluidized-Bed Fenton Process in the Presence of Calcium and Nickel Ions
Abstract:
In this study, the behavior of fluidized-bed Fenton process was investigated thoroughly by using aniline
which has been identified in one secured-landfill leachate as a target compound. Effect of calcium and nickel,
which also found in this secured-landfill leachate too, on aniline removal was studied as well. It was found that
both metal ions did not have significant impact on aniline degradation. In addition, removal efficiency of aniline
increased with the increasing of Fentons reagent and overall kinetic equation for aniline degradation by fluidized-bed
Fenton process, under the conditions of 0.72-1.79 mM of Fe2+, 5-58 mM of H2O2, 10-100 mM of aniline, 7.5 mM
of Ca2+, 0.05 mM of Ni2+, 74.07 g/l of SiO2 and pH 3.2, can be described as:
Increasing the SiO2 dosage did not have any significant effect on aniline degradation but it seemed to have a positive
impact on the iron-removal process.
