The study of the academic achievement in mathematics and the addition and subtraction skills of primary 1-2 (grade 12) students with mixed classes by using the cooperative learning TGT technique
Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study: 1) the academic achievement in Mathematics on addition and subtraction skills of Primary 1-2 (Grade 12) students with mixed classes by using the cooperative learning TGT technique, 2) the calculating skills in addition and subtraction of Primary 1-2 (Grade 12) students with mixed classes by using the cooperative learning TGT technique, and 3) the students opinions towards the cooperative learning TGT technique of Primary 1-2 (Grade 12) students with mixed classes.
The samples used in this research were Primary 1-2 (Grade 12) students with mixed classes of Wattheppanaram School in Chachoengsao Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 in the second semester of the academic year 2018. They were 16 students selected by purposive sampling. The research instruments were the cooperative learning TGT technique lesson plans, the mathematics learning achievement test, the mathematics calculating skill test and a questionnaire inquiring about the students opinions on the employment of the cooperative learning TGT technique. The statistical devices used to analyze the data were mean, standard deviation and one sample t-test.
The results of the research showed that 1) the academic achievement in Mathematics on addition and subtraction of Primary 1-2 (Grade 12) students with mixed classes by using the cooperative learning TGT technique was developed higher than the criterion percentage of 70 statistically at a significance level of 0.05; 2) the calculating skills in addition and subtraction of Primary 1-2 (Grade 12) students with mixed classes by using the cooperative learning TGT technique were developed higher than the criterion percentage of 70 statistically at significance level of 0.05, and 3) the students expressed positive opinions towards the cooperative learning of TGT technique.
