Abstract:
In Thailand, the annual dewatered sludge production from industrial wastewater treatment plants is huge the major. The agricultural residues are also enormous especially bagasses from a sugar industry. This amount produced needs to be properly managed otherwise it will cause an environmental problem. This study is aimed to investigate the feasibility of using waste sludge and bagasses from a sugar industry to produce heating fuel briquettes. The wastes sludge has a high density of 370 Kg/m3., which can be uses as a binder. Bagasses has 4100 Kcal/Kg of heating value that can be used as solid fuel. The mixing ratios od waste sludge and bagasses in ten ratios (10:0,9:1,8:2, 7:3,6:4,5:5,4:6,3:7,2:8 and 1:9) were studied. Results revealed that six ratios can be briquetted except tha ratios 4:6, 3:7,2:8 and 1:9 due to high bagasses content causing difficulty of pressing by the screw extruder
