Abstract:
In Stereographics rendering process, redundant data processing is required to generate 2
almost identical graphical frames. The only difference factors in Stereographics rendering
process are viewpoints from left and right eyes. In this thesis a technique for improving rendering
efficiency for stereographics is proposed. By applying reusability and inheritance characteristic
of object-oriented technology to illumination calculation in Phong Shading process, it is possible
to reduce some data processing redundancy . Two objects are created from Phong Reflection
Model (or Phong Illumination Equation) one of the proposed object depends on viewpoint,
recalculation is therefore required for each interpolation of related vector parameters. The other
object is viewpoint independent therefore, redundant recalculation is unnecessary. The proposed
technique can significant reduce processing time when applying to picture with more than 1
normal vectors , according theoretical complexity calculation. The proposed technique is
therefore suitable for complex Stereographics images application.
