Abstract:
This study was to determine dust collection efficiency of the method of UV photoelectron and
electric field combined with mist formation. Carbon dioxide gas with a concentration of 0.9% and
incent stick that an average particle size of 0.3 ?m and a concentration of 66 mg/m3 were used as a
model for dust. To collect dust, the electrostatic method and charged minus ion mist were used. The
experiments were carried out at the voltages of 0, -4 and -8 kV, relative humidities of 0, 20 and 40%,
a temperature of 50?C and a UV power of 16 W. The experimental results for the incent stick
showed that the efficiency of dust collector was increased with increased voltage. In addition, the
dust collection efficiency can be improved by increasing the relative humidity and reducing the
smoke velocity.
For the Carbon dioxide, it was found that the CO2 absorption rate was increased with increased
relative humidity and increased velocity of air flow. In addition, the rate of CO2 absorption
depended on the condensate from the system. The electrod (+) coated with TiO2 can increase the
condensate and consequently lead to the higher rate of CO2 absorption.
