Abstract:
The research of Crime against Property Offenders in Bangkok: Study in Rational Choice Theory and Routine Activity Theory, was to investigate factors affecting home larceny and decision to commit it based on factors of criminological theories, approaches, preventive measures and solutions to home larceny based on criminological solutions. The researcher explored secondary data from related documents and in-depth data collected from interviewing the convicted larceny, prisoners especially home larceny, confined in the Thonburi Special Prison who were the targeted population. A qualitative research was applied using interviews as a tool for its data collection. They were 10 convicted prisoners of home larceny detained in the Thonburi Special Prison selected through specific sampling. In summary, it was found that larceny, in particular home larceny, was explicable with factors of the criminological theories Routine Activity Theory and Rational choice theory through integrating their elements. They were victims, facilitated opportunity and the offenders with motivation, weight and values of offenses and consequential effects if being apprehended.
