The preparation of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) microspheres and its surface modification with chitosan
Abstract:
Rising demand of energy is leading to a large volume of pollution which directly affects the environment. Therefore, renewable energy has become one of the promising sources of energy. Hydrogen fuel, one of the renewable energies, can be produced via photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting process, in which water is dissociated into hydrogen and oxygen. PEC cell uses nanomaterials which consists of n-type and p-type semiconductors. Recently, Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) has been proposed to be used as the p-type material in PEC cell due to its appropriate band gap (1.5 eV) and high absorption. However, the efficiency was found to be dependent on the morphology of the film as it affects the transport of photogenerated carriers to the n-type layer. Therefore, in this research, we investigated the synthesis of CZTS films by convective deposition method by varying operating parameters including concentration of precursors and deposition temperature (50, 100, and 125 Celsius degrees). Different morphologies of CZTS films, e.g. compact and porous films, are expected to be obtained, and will be characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). We anticipate that higher concentration of precursors and higher deposition temperature result in porous structure of CZTS films
