Abstract:
Benzoxazine is the famous epoxy resin in recent days. Due to its various applications, like their low flammability, high heat stability and good at chemicals resistance. Benzoxazine is used to cover a substance that exposed to high temperature and corrosive chemical. For example, an automotive part or an aerospace component that need to withstand a high heat due to an air friction. In this experiment, the benzoxazine was produced from Bisphenol A, Paraformaldehyde and 3,5 - xylidine (BA-35x). Benzoxazine will turn into a crystalline stage at the certain temperature at 50 Celsius degrees for 2 hours, 80 Celsius degrees for 1 hour 30 mins and 140 Celsius degrees for 40 minutes. The results show that when mixing benzoxazine at 80 Celsius degrees for 30 mins, the solution will act like a viscous liquid but it still to move freely. Therefore, this benzoxazine mixture solution was feed through the spray dryer at control operating condition. The reaction condition, as well as the spray dryer operating condition, were investigated. The properties of benzoxazine powder was studied. The best conditions of making benzoxazine particle are preheating benzoxazine solution at 80 Celsius degrees for 30 minutes before injected to spray dryer which is a 110 Celsius degrees of temperature input and 12.0 ml per min flow rate
