Abstract:
This study was a cross-sectional survey research with the objective of studying the level of quality of work/life and the association between personal characteristics, job characteristics, organization climate and organization commitment with quality of work/life of personnel of Golden Jubilee Medical Center, Mahidol University. The studied samples were 196 personnel of the Medical Center. The research tool were questionnaires; the data having been collected during 1st -31st May 2557 B.E. Data had been analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent-samples t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearsons correlation coefficient. The study found that the overall quality of work/life of the personnel of the Medical Center was at a high level (x̄ = 3.67), job characteristics, organization climate and organization commitment were also at a high level (x̄ = 4.27, 4.05 and 3.92 consecutively). The study found that education levels and working positions had an association with the quality of work/life of the personnel of the Medical Center (F = 4.86, p-value < 0.001 and F = 4.62, p-value < 0.001 consecutively). The study also found that the organizational climate, organizational commitment, job description and monthly income had a positive association with the quality of work/life of the personnel at the Medical Center (r = 0.810, p-value < 0.001, r = 0.620, p-value < 0.001, r = 0.300, p-value < 0.001 consecutively). Research recommendations were: the administration should give priority in providing assistance to the assistant personnel, supportive personnel and nursing personnel in providing welfare eg. lodging in the hospital vicinity, meals, savings, childrens education etc. The administration should provide welfare benefits to every group of personnel with equity and fairness. There should be a definite policy about prevention, control and monitoring relating to infectious control in the hospital. There should be a system for promoting career growth for all levels of personnel and there also should be the facilitation of opportunity for the personnel to participate in expressing their opinions and ideas about their work, through various channels.
