Abstract:
Nanocomposites of Cu2O/ZnO/rGO and CuO/ZnO/rGO were prepared via the coprecipitation
method with assisted microwave radiation. The composition, structure and
morphology were well characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray
spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The
cubic crystalline Cu2O and monoclinic CuO nanoparticle were successfully decorated on riceshaped
wurtzite ZnO grains, which were imbedded uniformly on reduced graphene oxide
sheets. The photocatalytic reduction of CO2 gas under UV light irradiation was applied as a
method to evaluate the catalytic potentials of Cu2O/ZnO/rGO and CuO/ZnO/rGO. The
photocatalytic conversion of CO2 gas to methanol for CuO/ZnO/rGO was found to be about
four times higher (125 umol/gcat∙L) than that of Cu2O/ZnO/rGO.
