The Understanding of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Implementation in the Local Community: A Case Study of Household Leaders at Sai khow Sub - District, Koh Phow District, Pattani Province
Abstract:
This quantitative research aims to study the level of understanding the community currently has in the sufficiency economy philosophy practice in regard to five areas; economy, society, natural resources, technology and psychology. In addition, the research will compare the data collected by age, level of education, income, debt and land ownership of participants and examine each groups comprehension of the philosophical approaches to local practitioners in Sai Kao, Khok Pho district, Pattani province. The samples in this study were selected using a proportional stratified random sampling method, introduced by Taro Yamane. The sample accounts for 34 percent of households in each village, with a total of 789 households in Sai Kao. There are 265 households, were categorized into 6 villages; Lam Yang (48 households), Luang Chan (41 households), Sai Kao Org (53 households), Kuan Lang-nga (44 households), Sai Kao Tok (37 households), and Lam Arn (42 households). The results showed that the overall level of understanding of the sufficiency economy philosophy in practice among the community is a median level of (X= 3.43). The Psychological Self-sufficiency returned the highest mean score (X= 3.69). The average understanding of the remaining areas was shown to be as follows: Social Self-reliance (X= 3.49), Economic Self-reliance (X= 3.35), Natural Resources Reliance (X= 3.31), and Technology Self-reliance (X= 3.16) respectively.
