Abstract:
This present study was undertaken to test the effect of concentration of fertilizer on watermeal (Wolffiaarrhiza) growth using completely randomized design (CRD). The experiment was set in four treatments for different concentration of fertilizers (16:16:16), namely; untreated fertilizer (0), 50, 100, and 150 mg per L as treatment 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. The experiments were conducted within fifteen days. The initial number of watermeal was 50.00 + 0.00 g (2.45x106 fronds). Treatment 2 showed the highest of average weight, the number of watermeal were 268.8 + 130.1 g and 12.93 + 6.26x106fronds, respectively, while, treatment 1 showed the lowest growth of watermeal (9.53 + 6.26x106fronds). The watermeal growth had not different significance among each treatment. In addition, the average of temperature, pH, and light intensity ranged between 24.9 + 1.1-28.4 + 1.1 0C, 9.39 + 0.10-10.37 + 1.07, and10,875.0 + 8,076.5-14,650.00 + 13,177.4 lux. The whole results suggested that the chemical fertilizer in treatment 2 was appropriated for watermeal growth and could be used for watermeal cultivation
