Abstract:
This article to study and design the paddle wheel aerator. The structure of the machine has a width of 100 centimeters, 120 centimeters long, 1.5 HP motor with 8 paddles on each side of the machine, operating the machine with a speed of 145 rpm. The experiments were performed in the pond. This pond has 12 meters wide, 25 meters long and 1.64 meters high of water level, the water level in the pond has a volume of 492 cubic meters of water. Using an aerator paddle wheel which is adjusted the angle of the paddle. The experiments were performed 3 times for 48 hours at a time. The first time was performed at the angle of 70 degrees, the second time was performed at the angle of 50 degrees, and the third time was performed at the angle of 30 degrees for finding BOD and COD, changing from each angle of the rotor blades hitting the water by taking the water to check BOD and COD in each angle. The test results showed that the BOD from the 3 tests, the value has not changed. The test results for finding the COD of the test of the angle of the paddle at 70, 50 and 30 degrees were 107.30, 100.80 and 79.04 milligrams per liter, respectively. Thus, the experiment at the angle of 30 degrees will make the best aeration.
