Abstract:
The purpose of this study was threefold. First, it aimed at examining the perception of leadership among personnel working for Leam Chabang Port Custom Bureau. Also, this study attempted to investigate the organizational commitment among these staff. The third purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the perception of leadership and organizational commitment among these personnel working for Leam Chabang Port Custom Bureau. The subjects participating in this study comprised 203 employees working for Leam Chabang Port Custom Bureau. The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire. The test statistics used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, means, and standard deviation. To test the hypotheses, since all the collected data were interval or ratio, the test of Pearson Product Moment Coefficient was administered to test the relationship between the independent variable and dependent variable at a preset significant level of .01. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant relationship between the level of perception towards supervisor leadership and organizational commitment among the subjects working for Leam Chabang Port Custom Bureau (r =.231). Also, no significant relationship was found between the level of perception towards supervisor attributes and organizational commitment among the subjects (r=0.34). A significant relationship was found between the level of perception towards supervisor work and organizational commitment among the subjects (r=.250). In addition, there was a relationship between the level of perception towards supervisor relationship with other people and organizational commitment among the subjects (r=.195). Finally, there was a relationship between the level of perception towards supervisors giving opportunities to other people and organizational commitment among the subjects working for Leam Chabang Port Custom Bureau (r= .214).
