Abstract:
To reduce the mechaincal cooling energy cost of new housing built in a hot and humid elimate, the design should maximize the natural ventilation and minimize the ratio of sun energy absorbed by dwelling. This well be accomplished by using the roof structure to act as a solar collector. The configuration of roof solar collector (RSC) was made by using CPAC monier and gypsum board. Two units of RSC with two different air gap sizes of 8 cm and 14 cm were built. Both units were till at 25 and integrated in the roof structure of the school solar house. The comparison of results of experiment with the simulation results validated the developed numerical model. Based on long-term simulation of behavior of RSC, the appropriate operating conditions of RSC, under Bangkok ambient conditions, are the following:20 - 45 tilt angle, 100-130 cm length with 10 to 14 cm space between CPAC monier and gypsum board
