Chalitaporn Yamoon. Camera for Blind. Master's Degree(Interface Design). King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. KMUTT Library. : King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, 2010.
Abstract:
In present, the digital compact camera provides technology that facilitates users to take
photos easily. However, there is no camera that can assist the blind to take photos
independently with neither interface nor technology. Thus, the objectives of this project are
to design an interface of the camera, and to ensure that the interface is easy to use.
As a result, this camera prototype provides an effective tool from existing software
technologies and ergonomics interfaces that allow users to use independently. Based on
interview information and testing the camera prototype by two participants, a visual
impaired person and a full-sighted person, the researcher finds that they can use the camera
independently via the given audio feedback and button' interfaces. However, there are
many variables that could affect its performance, especially skills of photography and
users' experience with interface of the camera.
For further development of this camera can recommended that it should allow users to
command by using voices and users should visualize by using 3D-embossed while taking
photos.
