Abstract:
A solar simulator system has been built. The simulator can incorporate upto 200 OSRAM Power Star HQI-R 250 W/DL LAMPS. Each lamp has an individual set of ballast, ignitor, p.f. correction capacitor and voltage tuning coil. The simulator has, presently, a working ares of 4 m2 and is forced-air cooled. Test results on spectral quality within the solar spectrum show that in the 5 bands measured (0.295-0.400 um, 0.400-0.495 um, 0.495-0.610 um, 0.610-0.715 um, and 0.715-2.5 um,) the simulator spectrum follows closely that specified under the AM 2 condition. Non-selective and coating flat plate collectors were tested under the solar simulator and outdoor conditions. Collector performance curves obtained were compared
