Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine and compare a level of public opinions towards the work performed by policemen working for Prevention and Suppression Division at, Amphoe Mueang, Chon Buri Province. The population participating in this study was 395 residents, living in the sub-districts of Samed and Huay Kapi. The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire with a level of reliability at 0.78. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, means, standard deviation, and t-test with independent samples. The results of this study revealed that the subjects expressed a moderate level of agreement with the work relating to crime prevention and suppression, crime desistance, and supporting factors, performed by policemen working for Samed Police Station. In other words, their performance was rated at a good level by the subjects. When considering each item, the enforcement of law and crime desistance was rated at the highest level of agreement by the subjects. Specifically, the statement stating that the policemen of Samed Police Station had always reached the crime scenes immediately was the item that was rated the highest. In addition, regarding supporting factors, the subjects revealed that the contact telephone number of 038-467- 000 provided by Samed Police Station could be reached quickly. Finally, based on the test of means comparison, it was shown that there was a statistically significant difference in the level of opinions expressed by the subjects living in Samed sub-district and Huay Kapi sub-district at a significant level of .05.
