Abstract:
The purposes of this quasi-experimental research were 1) to develop information processing theory-based instruction for enhancing analytical thinking of Prathomsuksa 6 students and 2) to compare between analytical thinking of Prathomsuksa 6 students before and after the experiment. The sample included 40 Prathomsuksa 6/2 students from Primary Demonstration School of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University obtained through cluster random sampling. The research instruments involved 4 multiple choice test with p = 0.35-0.80, r = 0.40-0.95 and = 0.81. Data were collected in the 1st semester of academic year 2017 and statistically analyzed by mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The findings revealed as follows.
1.The information processing theory-based instruction for enhancing analytical thinking delineated the following components, i.e., 1) theory/principle/concept 2) objectives 3) learning process within 5 stages: stage 1 recognition, stage 2 attention, stage 3 memory, stage 4 decoding and stage 5 elaboration and 4) learning outcome
2. After the experiment, the students analytical thinking was higher than that before the experiment at significance level 0.01.
