Abstract: This thesis presents the development of a quasi 2-D model for computation ofchannel bed changes in alluvial channels, based on the stream tube technique. The flow was firstrouted through the channel to determine the water levels and hydraulic parameters and then thechannel cross sections were divided into a given number of stream tubes and the dimensions ofeach stream tube were computed. The sediment routing for various size fractions of the sedimentin each stream tube was performed to simulate lateral variations of the cross sections along thelength of the channel and the change of percent sediment distribution was computed.The model was tested with the symethy and natural channel before was tested againstthe field data from Phum Duang River in Surat Thani Province. From the Comparison betweencomputed results and the field data, it was found that the flow routing using the stream tubetechnique agreed well with the measured data , while the accuracy of the sediment routing andthe prediction of channel changes were acceptable. Therefore, the model could be used to studythe river morphologic changes in alluvial rivers.
