Abstract:
The objectives of this research project are: (i) small-strain stiffness, (ii) non-linearity, and
(iii) stiffness anisotropy of Bangkok Clay. The results of this project can provide a very important data for the understanding of the behavior of Bangkok Clay. The detail objectives of this project are as follow:
1. Development of a local strain measurement system for an existing conventional triaxial
apparatus to be able to study soil behavior at small- and intermediate-strain levels
2. Development of an extension system for an existing conventional triaxial apparatus to be able to perform triaxial extension test
3. Development of a bender element system for an existing conventional triaxial apparatus
to be able to study soil behavior at small-strain level be wave propagation
Study stiffness degradation curve, non-linearity, and anisotropy under an undrained
extension test of vertically- and horizontally-cut specimens of Bangkok Clay
