Abstract:
The objective of this thesis is to study on wear behavior of die material JIS MSC in blanking process. The influences of die hardness on wear are investigated. Workpiece mrtwirl,JI$Ci3 141 SPCC of 20 mm. in diameter and 0.8 mm. thick is usedThe blanking dies with hardness of 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 WRC were studied. The experiments were done on the 630 KN mechanicalpress. On each hardness level, the cutting force, die wear, dieweight, and burr were recorded. It was found that tbc tool wear increase rapidly for the first 2,000 uses and very slowly after those uses. Relating to the cutting force, the result can be concluded into two stages of usage, In tha first stage, the cutting force of the tool with higher hardness is bigger than that of the tool with the lesser hardness. In the seood stage, however, the cutting force of the tool with higher hardness is smaller than that of the tool with the lesser hardness. This isdue to the fact that the tool with higher hardness tends to wear slower. As a result, for the tool with higher hardness, tool weight decreases at a slower rate. Italso has less burr than the tool with the lesser hardness.
