Abstract:
The study on the cause of outstanding debts of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand The purpose of this study was to investigate the causes of outstanding debt and to analyze the future trend of bad debt of the debtor. A study of debtors of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand, Office of Region 2, in the areas of responsibility of 3 branches, namely Maesai Branch, Phayao Branch and Chiang Rai Branch. By study from the outstanding debter who has defaulted of debt for more than 3 months, total 75 accounts. The data were collected by using questionnaires and interviews. The data will be processed by using quantitative analysis and describe the data collection in the form of Percentage and Mean.
The result on study of the cause of outstanding debts from Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand, Office Region 2, and the main causes are from the economic conditions such as Inflation, High Unemployment Rate, Economic Resession, and Economic Growth Rate. The result of these economic factors effected to the business operation has been reduced, decreased in sales of goods or services. However, the business has increased in expenses such as the payment of goods or increased in expenses of the installment, and cost of production or cost of services or the increasing of cost of goods sold. Threfore, resulting in a decrease of operating profit.
The analysis of the trend of Bad Debt is based on the income and expense data of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand, Office Region 2 Using the Altman Z-Score analysis formula, found that the debtor who is likely to be bad debt or the debtor who has no ability to pay the installment reported as 17 accounts, 22.67%. The debtors were entrepreneurs, unsccessful business, or business closed down, and debtors who has ability to pay. However, must be aware on the debtors who are likely to be bad debt of 46 cases, 61.33%, most of these debtors are entrepreneurs or the business with decreased in operating income and there is a high operating cost in the business.
